The first Bearpaw Cup Spain of traditional archery has been conducted at the 22nd of May 2011 on the 3D Parcours of the Hotel Area of Casa Lehmi in Tárbena, located close to Alicante. According to all participants this tournaments has been in many aspects a great event. It was the pure Spanish joy and way of life! For all friends of archery on the Iberian Peninsula it was something special. The parcours had been challenging staged by Christoph Unger and Jouquin Velasco. Jouquin also was responsible for the organisation onside and who also optimized the parcours in-line to Spanish archery and state regulations! According to the president of the Federación de Tiro con Arco de la Comunidad Valenciana, Mr. Julio Córdoba, such kind of challenging and beautiful parcours can hardly be found in Spain.
The 20 station parcours, located in wonderful Catalan hilly landscape, had to be shoot two times and was a demanding one for all shooters. Luckily the competitors were treated very well during the half-time break by the Hotel family of Markus and Susan Lehman. Food and refreshments were served in that way, that in the second round almost all shooters could improve their score even the temperatures were at its peak!
Distinguished Spanish participants were in the midst of the competitors. Among others, four Spanish champions and even one world champion of the year 2010 in the traditional Longbow category were present! These high potentials finally proved their great skills with remarkably first-class results.
The detail results were as follows:
In the youth class Alberto Ivars was with 250 points the appointed winner. In the free bow category was, with brilliant 729 points Pedro Garrido, the winner. At the final lottery drawing very attractive prices were raffled among all shooters: e.g. first prize a Bodnik Long Bow Raven, 3D targets from LongLife, Hotel stays, etc. Happily winner of the Longbow was Antonio Sanchez. The bow could be directly handed over to the Antonio from Harald Fischer, International Sales Manager of Bearpaw Products.
